	Beverly and Anthony Knight, in conjunction with Lockhart River Art Indigenous Corporation, QLD proudly invite you to view new works by Cheryl Accoom, Patrick Butcher, Elizabeth ‘Queenie’ Giblet, Irene Namok, Evelyn Omeenyo, Josiah Omeenyo, Lawrence Omeenyo and Sue Pascoe New work by artists from Lockhart River, Queensland Waanta Nhampulungku Kuntha – Telling Our Strong Stories OPENING EVENT: Thursday 12 May, 6 - 8 pm PLACE: 11 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC 3065 Lawrence Omeenyo and Irene Namok will make the long journey from Lockhart River to officially launch the exhibition, and they will all partake in a traditional drum and song performance for your viewing pleasure. Traditionally, many of the clans from this area have lived close to the beach and it features as a common thread in many of the artists’ work The art from Lockhart River promotes the identity of Aboriginal people in contemporary Australian culture and is unique to Lockhart River Arts Centre. The artists express the strong influences of traditional culture and values in their world, and have developed their own forms of expression, with their work reflecting the sublime tropical landscape. This group of artists from the remote, but stunningly beautiful country in far north Queensland are taking the art world by storm with their highly sought after paintings and objects, and this exhibition is without exception.
