Concept of Works
Lee Jae Seung¡¯slatest works ¡°Imaginary Mediation¡± shows a bohemian and profound spirit based on ¡°SooMook¡± (Indian Ink paintings). They reflect his point of view and his cognition, that everything is one. His cognition, in which ¡°object and subject¡±, ¡°life and death¡±, ¡°right and wrong¡±, ¡°phenomenon and essence¡± are at last not two but one, reaches Buddhism¡¯s spiritual thought. This can be understood as ¡°SaekGeukSiKong andKongGeukSiSaek¡±(form is nothing other than emptiness; emptiness is nothing other than form).

In his series ¡°Circulation – The Land of Vitality¡± he tries to show his understanding of the universe by using ¡°SooMook¡±. He removes the complexity of things, the explanation of details, drops shape and form and then reaches to the very beginning of the universe, when time and space did not really exist, but the vitality, the sound of life was vibrating through the earth. To escape from loneliness and darkness, the artist has to go into a more deep and profound world. It is a metaphysical place of paradox and contradiction that becomes brighter without light.
