비영리 美術 양성 기구
NURTURE art Nonprofit Inc 는 1997년 George J. Robinson 이 신진작가를 지원하고 돕기위한 비젼을 실현하기위해 설립한 기구이다. 그는 그의 아파트인 워싱턴 헤이츠의 파일된 저장공간의 현장 슬라이드로 시작, 언제 어디서든 가능한 후원된 공간에 마운팅 게릴라전을 계기로 시작하였다. 작가 등록이 활성화 되면서 부터 전시가 미국 전역에 걸쳐 씨티뱅크 와 Lower East Side의 가게앞 구석에서 까지 열렸다. 2003년 NURTURE art는 등록 부터 출발된 신진작가와 큐레이터와의 합작으로 일년 사계절 전시가 가능한 흥미있는 기회를 창조하면서 윌리암스버그와 부르클린의 그 자신 소유의 갤러리 공간에서 오픈했다. 2006년에는 장기자원자인 그가 신뢰하는 Karston Marsto을 관장으로 임명하여 East Williamsburg 의 Grand Street에 있는 보다 크고 좋은 영구적인 공간을 마련했고, 2007년에는 Benjamin Evans 와 팀을 합류 갤러리 관장으로 임명하였다. 많은 헌신적인 자원 봉사자의 도움으로 NURTURE art는 오늘날 역동적인 기구로 성장하여 첨단의 신진작가 사회에서 활동적으로 그 역할을 하고있다.
History
In 1997, George J. Robinson founded NURTUREart Nonprofit Inc. to realize his vision of an organization dedicated to helping emerging artists. He began by mounting guerilla exhibitions in donated spaces whenever and wherever possible, starting a slide registry in a filing cabinet in his Washington Heights apartment. As the Artists’ Registry grew exhibits took place in all corners of the city from the United Nations and Citibank to empty Lower East Side storefronts. In 2003 NURTUREart opened a gallery space of its own in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, creating the exciting opportunity for a full season of exhibitions by collaborating emerging curators and artists from the registry. In 2006 NURTUREart found a bigger and better permanent home on Grand Street in East Williamsburg and long time volunteer and trustee Karen Marston took the helm as Executive Director, and in 2007 Benjamin Evans joined the team as Gallery Director. With the help of many dedicated volunteers NURTUREart has grown into the dynamic organization it is today, playing a vital role in the cutting-edge emerging art community.

우리의 현재 미디어로 - 정치적 무가치와 이념적 논쟁으로 흠뻑 베어있는, 단순한 견제를 넘어 "정치적인것"에 대한 예술적 움직임이 가능했었나? 이 전시는 미디어의 다양성에서 국제적인 신진작가의 작업으로부터의 자극하는 작품-사고, 재치를 통해 정치적 담론의 한계에 대한 탐구와 정치와 예술의 난맥상에 대한 질문을 던지고 있다.
With our current media over-saturated with political fodder and ideological sparring, is it ever possible to move 'political' art beyond simple diversion? This exhibition questions the fraught relationship between art and politics and explores the limits of political discourse through witty, thought-provoking works from international emerging artists working in diverse media.

MARK EPSTEIN
종이위에 그린 마크 엡스테인의 작품은 같은공간, 색채연출 에서 혹은 스타일이 다른 이미지위에서 사물이 어떻게작용 할 수 있는가 또는 사용할 수 있는 의미와 그것의 대한 접근성의 작용으로 사물의 관계성을 탐험한다.
심볼과 사물사이의 선을 애매하게하게 하기도하고 , 그는 과학적인 픽토그램과 그의 작품속에 요소인 균등화에대한 접근을 창조해낸다. 관계되지 않은 사물이 그들의 존재방식으로 연합하지 않은 요소에 의해 연결, 바로 다음것 옆에 나타나기도한다.

엡스테인은 보스톤의 Tuftys University 에서 학사와 런던에서 Slade School of the Museum of Fine Arts 에서 석사를 했다. 최근 런던에 있는 Limoncello갤러리에서"Hexospective" 포함한 그룹쇼, 뉴져지 Demarest 의 Mikail Zakin 갤러리에서 "The Tacit Object" 전,보스턴 아트센타에서 "Drawing the Line"을 그리고 ㅡ최근에Macdowell Colony 와 Jentel Colony 에서 레지던시 프로그램에 참가했고 현재 블루클린에서 살고있다.
Mark Epstein’s works on paper explore the relationships of objects as a function of their proximity and how objects in the same space, color scheme, or style can affect or bestow meaning on other images. Blurring the line between object and symbol, Epstein creates scientific pictograms and obtuse equations that factor into his work. Unrelated objects appear next to one another, linked by factors generally un-associated with their existence. Epstein received his B.F.A. degree from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and his M.F.A. from Slade School of Fine Art in London. Recent group shows include "Hexospective" at Limoncello Gallery in London, "The Tacit Object" at Mikail Zakin Gallery in Demarest, New Jersey, and "Drawing the Line" at Boston Center for the Arts. Recent residencies include Macdowell Colony and Jentel Colony. Currently he lives in Brooklyn.
